General information and activity profile.

The department specializes in the training of translators and interpreters with the English, German, French and Chinese languages within bachelor and master degree programmes. Department staff teaches general linguistics and specialized translation courses as well as professional communication courses. There are several elective courses developed by the staff of the department, such as Technical translation (English language), French language and culture (Elementary level), Basics of Chinese language and culture, English as a second foreign language for professional communication, German as a second foreign language for professional communication.

The key subjects of the department scientific research are


  1. “Arctic discourse: translation and international professional communication in the context of digitalization” (Research supervisors are Doctor of Philology, Professor Alexander Polikarpov, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Maria Druzhinina).
  2. “Training of specialists in the system of vocational education in the Russian North” (Research supervisor is Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Maria Druzhinina)

Projects

International project "Development of Chinese Studies in the North of Russia and in NArFU" (The project has been implemented since 2013 jointly with Shandong Pedagogical University and Changchun University)

All-Russian scientific and educational project "Together we will preserve the Nenets language and culture of the Nenets people" (The project has been implemented since 2022)

The network project of federal universities "Scientific cooperation of federal universities in applied linguistics and pedagogy of vocational education in the context of digitalization". (The project has been implemented since 2018. In October 2023, the Consortium of Federal Universities "Digital Practices in Linguistics and Education" was created as part of the project).
